Willett Family Estate, Single Barrel Rye, 8 years, Barrel No. 43, 58.1% abv.
Nose: light honey, smooth, light pickle juice?, wax.
Palate: potent, dry, initial palate is spicey, light flower honey, mid palate is spicey honeycomb, some vegetative elements, back palate is honey and transitions well into the finish.
Finish: medium, dry, honey sweet.
The taste is potent, flavorful, mostly honey sweetness, the spice or abv is making the roof of my mouth numb. A little one dimensional as it sticks to one flavor, namely honey, which overpowers the spice throughout. Doesn't taste like 58% abv rye though. Not as good when compared to the Wild Turkey Rare Breed.
Grade: C+
