Enjoy The Macallan In David Carson's Exhibition In Singapore's New Bahru – 25–26 July 2026

For two days this month, The Macallan is setting up a space in Singapore for visitors to observe its collaboration with graphic designer David Carson. The Macallan x David Carson: In the Studio runs on 25 and 26 July 2026 at ÁTIPICO ROOM #15 in New Bahru, and admission is free. The idea is to walk visitors through the thinking behind Carson's artwork for The Macallan.

Carson is the graphic designer behind The Macallan's redesigned Double Cask and Sherry Oak collections. The partnership began in 2020, and reached its most visible point in 2025 with that redesign. Carson's approach is intuitive and deliberately unconventional, and the collaboration set that against The Macallan's own habits of patience and repetition in the distillery. In The Studio is built around the overlap between the two.

The experience is arranged in three parts, named Instinct, Mastery and Craft, each one taking a principle that applies to both design and whisky making. Instinct introduces Carson's way of working and the thinking behind his collaboration with The Macallan. It centres on "You Know Me So Well", the piece first shown alongside the redesigned Double Cask and Sherry Oak collections, which stands in for the creative alignment between the designer and the brand. As Carson puts it, "There's no magic answer. At some point, you have to trust your gut."

Mastery follows, and ends in a gallery-style room showing original Carson works next to expressions from the Double Cask and Sherry Oak collections, including The Macallan 18, 25 and 30 Years Old. The section runs on the idea of "Mastery Beyond Reason", and draws a straight line between a frame that finishes a piece of art and a bottle that finishes a whisky. Both are the end point of a long run of small decisions made over time.

The last part is Craft, where Carson's method is put in front of visitors directly. His work leans on a mix of discipline, experience and instinct, which is roughly how The Macallan describes its own whisky making. The point is where the human hand still sits: at a moment when software is doing more of the work in creative production, Carson's process stays with experimentation, layering and emotional response. Visitors are pushed to try a guided art activity to similarly work in layers and follow their own instincts.

"Carson's approach to design mirrors many of the values that define The Macallan, patience, intuition and an unwavering commitment to craft. Through In The Studio, we want to invite audiences to experience the creative thinking that sits behind both exceptional design and incomparable whisky," says Lai Ching Kok, Managing Director of Edrington, Southeast Asia and Pacific.

The exhibition is aimed at both Singapore's design crowd and whisky drinkers. Admission is complimentary, but places are limited and visitors are asked to sign up in advance to secure a slot. Members of The Macallan Society get a complimentary dram during their visit – a reasonable reason to check whether your membership is in order before you head down.
