Mount Gay Extends Exceptionally Aged Collection With 30 Year Old, The Highest Age Statement Barbados Rum To Date

Just earlier this year in 2026, Mount Gay announced the launch of its Exceptionally Aged series, marking the first time ever that the world's oldest continuously active rum distillery has donned an official age statement on an expression. The initial release consisted of a 15 Year Old and a 25 Year Old expression, and now it appears that a 30 Year Old Mount Gay rum will be joining the series!

Established in 1703 in the St. Lucy Parish of Barbados, Mount Gay holds distillation records dating back to 1654, making it the world's oldest continuously active rum distillery. The estate would take on different names over the course of its long history, notably Mount Gilboa, before settling on Mount Gay in honour of Sir John Gay Alleyne who had not only served as the distillery's manager, but who would revolutionise the estate's rum-making. In more recent years, the historic distillery has sought to significantly expand its universe, first with its highly ambitious self-grown cane to glass Single Estate Series - where the distillery would return to its roots, growing its own cane and producing its own molasses, which it then distills, ages and bottles entirely on its single estate, offering fans a true precision of its provenance and identity - before then debuting the Exceptionally Aged series that certainly flexes its long history.

On release just months ago, the Mount Gay Exceptionally Aged 25 Year Old expression already holds the record for Barbados' oldest aged officially released rum. Now with the Mount Gay Exceptionally Aged 30 Year Old in tow, it looks like this is a record that just might be broken on repeat.
