📍Gotti Italiano
Concept bars such as Gotti Italiano are masters when it comes to transporting diners to locations in the past whilst capturing an aesthetic.
Named after the infamous mafia boss John Gotti, this restaurant-bar recreates the Italian-American areas of New York City during the mafia era. The theatricality is reflected in the luxurious interior design and tying the cocktails to people, places and major events creates a storyline in the menu, which we were very invested in!
A lot of the drinks are Italian iterations of classic cocktails and the presentation represented a sense of style and class akin to the Gotti crime family. Overall, the drinks packed a punch and we appreciated the bartenders explaining the mixology behind it, which showed the depth of thought given to their craft.
Amoy street never disappoints, and this is one bed that should not be slept on!
Here’s what we ordered:
🥂Philomena Gotti: Sazerac Rye, Mulassano Vermouth Rosso, Mancino Chinato, Bitters.
A potent mix, yet one that is refreshing because of the floral aftertaste of the Sakura essence. Served with an actual Sakura flower, the flower gradually expands when immersed in the drink and is an absolutely stunning sight to witness!
🥂The Sigaro: Signette VSOP, House Advocaat Espuma, Espresso.
A variation of the famous Bombardino, this dessert drink was layered and treated us to a multi-faceted tasting experience. The foam espuma layer on top was creamy and light and could be enjoyed as a milder version of ice cream. When mixed with the espresso cocktail beneath it, the strong, bitter flavours of VSOP kick in and warm you up. This was certainly a filling drink to end off the night with!
