Glendronach Single Cask, 25 years, 1992-2017, Sherry Butt Cask Number 52, 196/554, 58.5% abv.

Nose: mellow, seems "thick" like honey or caramel without the aromas though, raisins, deep wood (what the hell is deep wood?), sweet, toffee, hints of a spicey peanut, slightly mysterious. However, after awhile, it's like a strong sherry. Even after 30+ minutes, I don't think it opened up.

Palate: sweet, good body, initial palate is sweet, light raisins, spicey, but after several sips its quite sweet, mid palate is spicey, very sherry like, back palate is spicey, wood, overall it gets extremely dry.

Finish: short, spice, sherry, light wood smoke. aromas.

A potent sherry casked GD, nose and flavors took some time, but I felt like it still didn't completely open up. Overall it's quite sweet and doesn't let the abv dominate, more like a less intense dry sherry. One of the better GD single casks I've had, sticks to the theme, focused, and doesn't let any aspect dominate... so in a sense it's balanced, but doesn't feel like it though. Had this at Malt Bar Barrel, Seoul, South Korea.

Grade: C+
