Glendronach 18 Allardice, 46% abv.

Glendronach 18 Allardice, 46% abv.

This is a revisit, but at a different bar. I tasted this in the second half of 2017 and posted my notes and opinions in August 2017. To summarize, I didn't think too much of it, but better than the GD 15 Revival and more balanced than the GD 21 Parliament. The common desception I read and hear is that GD 15 is the best, or at least top ranked, sherry bomb out there and that the old green bottle is composed of juice older than 15 years.... which I always wondered, then wouldn't it be similar to the 18 and 21? Let's see if anything has changed.

Nose: sherry, grape, honey.

Palate: sweet, slight wood, slight old steamed lotus leaves.

Finish: short, old steamed lotus leaves.

It's got that sherry cask profile, it's better than the other non-single cask GDs I've tried, but still not my thing. I'll reiterate, I can see how amazing these core product GDs are... to people that eat rabbit food or sandwiches all their life. To the uniniated, even a frozen grape is a sherry bomb. Had this at Bar Feather, Seoul, South Korea. The bartender here is really nice!

Grade: C+
