Notes - First time trying and reviewing Taka 🍶. As the Chinese character of Taka is 貴, which means expensive in Chinese, many Chinese people would associate the price of Taka as being expensive. However, I felt that their pricing is reasonable and would appeal to the general 🍶 enthusiasts. At Nagayama Honke Shuzojo, they are a brewery which insist to grow their own 🌾 which they believed is the core of 🍶 brewing and also to create 🍶 that allows consumers to fully experience the flavor of 🌾.
Clean and dry on the mouth with reminiscent of fresh 🌲 and ripe 🍍. Simple and straightforward with a medium profile that is easy to pair with heavy flavored food. A dry texture that will help to clean and reset the palate after every sip making the mouth feel refreshed and ready for more.
Recommended food pairing will be with heavy flavor dishes like beef stew or curry chicken. I paired mine with Singapore Laksa at @senshu_shoten which I was amazed by how good they complimented each other. As lovers of laksa are aware, usually after every sip of the coconut laden gravy, you will feel that your mouth is being covered with the rich texture from the gravy. But with this dry 🍶, it really helps to wipe off the richness from the mouth and resetting the palate for more delicious food. I would say this is quite a decent Tokubetsu Junmai that I have enjoyed so far and I’ll continue to review more Taka 🍶 in the upcoming weeks.
