Overall - 2nd sake of the night before Singaporeans can dine out again on 13 June 21. The label of this sake is synonymous with anyone who knows the manga “Slam Dunk, 灌篮高手” Mitsui no Shou 三井の寿, is the genius 3 point shooter Hisashi Mitsui (三井寿) of Slam Dunk who dawns a number 14 uniform. This is a super dry sake with SMV+14 with strong aroma of steam 🍚, alcohol and some reminiscent of 🍏. The taste is medium with light umami and I can feel the sharp crisp and acidity of biting into a 🍏. It does have a refreshing ginjo aroma and very suited as a summer sake especially in all year round summer Singapore. The body is airy with a short and sharp tail which makes it easy to wash down the fats in fatty or deep fried food. When I first tasted it, I can feel the strong acidity and spiciness it created in my tongue but after which I felt some muscular tightness as the sake goes down my throat. This is a good contrast to the medium sweet Jikon which I had during dinner. This sake is easy to pair with food and I paired mine with mixed nuts and a bowl of piping hot Oden. Not sure why but I think Oden goes really well with dry and airy sake. Perhaps the dry sake can bring out the umaminess of the dashi stock and enhance it. Recommend to have it chilled using a clear sake glass.
Overall, this is a very good sake.
