Overall - Decided to meet up some friends at Orihara Shoten just for some chit chat and was recommended this bottle by the lady boss to try. First time trying an Atagonomatsu which is also a Shinshu, 新酒. Shinshu are sake that are brewed and sold in the current brewing year. Brewed with Kuranohana which is the first sake 🌾 of Miyagi and also a cross breed between Yamadanishiki and Tohoku, the aroma is fruity with the fragrance of different fruits like 🍌, 🍈 and 🍑. This is a light and airy tasting sake bearing characteristics from the So-shu category. It has a light umami and body and has a refreshing taste and smooth feeling in the mouth which I think is really good after my heavy dinner of hotpot at HDL. This is a medium to medium sweet sake which is not too drying on the palate and great as an after dinner drink with light snacks of mixed nuts. However being light in taste, it does have a medium length that lingers at the back of my throat which is really great as it kind of remove the strong hotpot flavor that is still at the back of my throat. As it is light and smooth, this sake is highly recommended to drink chilled at around 8-10c and pair with light tasting food like sashimi salad, Korean kimbap or even edamame. Good bottle when you have ladies in the group.
Overall, this is a very good sake.
