The GlenAllachie Distillery has announced the expansion of its acclaimed Sinteis Series (pronounced sin-teesh) with a new third edition: An 11-year-old limited edition 2014 Speyside single malt, aged in both French Virgin Oak and Oloroso Sherry casks.

The French virgin oak casks are crafted from Limousin oak sourced from the forests of
central France. Prized for their wide grain structure, it is said the nature of the wood encourages greater interaction with the spirit within. It was then medium charred and toasted before being air-dried for 15 months, only after which it was filled.

The French oak is said to result in notes of honey, orange peel with gentle spice and subtle earthy undertones, which is balanced by richer influences of Oloroso sherry that present layers of dried fruit, dark chocolate, and gentle spice. 

 

 

Launched in April 2025, the Sinteis Series - Gaelic for "synthesis" - explores the dynamic interplay between virgin oak and sherry casks. Under the tagline “Two distinct casks. One harmonious synthesis,” this collection is the brainchild of legendary Master Blender Billy Walker. 

The GlenAllachie Sinteis Part III follows the debut of the 2014 Chinquapin Virgin Oak and Pedro Ximénez release and the 2015 Scottish Virgin Oak and Oloroso Sherry second edition.

Designed by in-house Scottish artist Kayley Barbour, the expression's packaging features a hand-drawn motif of interwoven branches and roots, celebrating the French virgin oak at the heart of this release. It is accented with warm red foil and housed in a bespoke wood-grain presentation box.

Bottled at 57.4%, The GlenAllachie Sintesis Part lIl, 2014 French Virgin Oak & Oloroso Sherry Cask Matured, is  now available with a UK MSRP of £75.99 from The GlenAllachie Distillery and website from February 26.
