Thompson Bros Bottles 2010 Caol Ila For Japan's Liquor Kimura Commemorating Theatre Release Of Godzilla Minus Zero

Japanese distributor Liquor Kimura has partnered with Bar Heather Honey to release an expression in commemoration of the upcoming film Godzilla Minus Zero.
Bottled by Scotland’s renowned Thompson Brothers, this single malt was distilled in 2010 at the Caol Ila Distillery on Islay before undergoing 16 years of careful maturation.
The selection of the cask was a collaborative effort between the distributor and Takayuki Miura, owner of Bar Heather Honey, Osaka’s official Thompson Brothers embassy. Together, they handpicked a liquid that intends to fully encapsulates the strength, depth, and legendary status worthy of the Godzilla moniker.
The label was created by acclaimed Japanese painter Yuji Murakami.

Liquor Kimura has described the expression as having notes of gentle peat smoke that opens into burnt caramel and coffee hard candy, before giving way to crisp lemon peel, subtle fennel, and some sea salt.
On the palate, initial layers of candied orange peel and lightly sweetened coffee segue into a rich, oily texture with a finish likened to sipping warm lemon tea by a crackling seaside bonfire.
Bottled at 56.1% ABV, the release is limited to 221 bottles for the Japanese market with an MSRP of 19,800 Yen (US$125.50).
