Glenturret Introduces Summer Edition of Still Life Series

The Glenturret Distillery has announced the released of the long-awaited summer edition of its Still Life series. Still Life Summer is said to represent the season’s 'daylight hours, blue skies, warm days and balmy evenings’, that exist just before the start of the harvest.

The release also commemorates Glenturret whisky maker Bob Dalgarno’s 40th anniversary in the industry.

The Lalique Group-owned distillery had previously released the Winter and Spring decanters, with the Autumn decanter set for release next year. As per their names, the decanters are inspired by Scottish seasons. Dalgarno said:

“As a youngster, I watched my father working the land on the family farm. My first job upon leaving school was on a local farm, where I learned to look after cattle, drive a tractor, plough, and sow barley – little did I know what a big part that crop would play in my future career. The memories will forever be part of my Still Life.”

Bottled at 40.5% ABV, the whisky was drawn from three refill hogsheads and two first-fill Sherry casks. Reportedly, it has notes of sun-ripened tropical fruits, cinnamon, sweet vanilla, pineapple and wood spices.

The hand-crafted decanters in which the Still Life whiskies are presented are designed by Lalique artistic and creative director Marc Larminaux. The decanters also come in custom-made boxes with colors representing each season. With only 105 decanters available worldwide, it can be purchased on the distillery’s website, or at the distillery’s shop for £5,500 (US$7,292).
