DOUBLE MUSICAL GREATNESS WITH DOUBLE BEER BRILLIANCE
 
The next pick is the album that is considered by some as a little ambitious and self-indulgent release, the third studio album “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness” from @smashingpumpkins. The 28 track double album represents day and night; with Billy Corgan describing the album as being based on the human condition of mortal sorrow.
 
The album is much more expansive than previous releases; with a much wider variety of instrumentation is used, such as piano, synthesizers and drum loops, a live orchestra, and even salt shakers and scissors. The album also contains greater musical input from bassist D'arcy Wretzky and second guitarist James Iha.
 
The album is Part One of what will be eventually become a trilogy of albums, with Part Two being “Machina/The Machines of God”; and Part Three; as with the respective 1995 and 2000 albums, the new record would have a “conceptual base involving a single character”, and that fans will find out who the new character at some stage.
 
Mellon Collie’s amazing breadth makes for a diverse, sonically brilliant album full of perfect, at sometimes unexpectedly brilliantly moments.
 
Now for the beer, or should we say beers. This double album needs a pair of brilliant brews. Every year after the annual Hop Harvest, Bridge Road Brewing releases two fresh Hop beers,  “Hazy Harvest Fresh Hop IPA” and “Mikkeler Dark Harvest Fresh Hop IPA”. The hops come from the nearby Rostrevor hop garden, with the “Hazy Harvest Fresh Hop IPA” 2021 vintage Galaxy hop cones, picked and added to the beer within 6 hours.
 
“Mikkeller Dark Harvest Fresh Hop IPA” was made after Mikkel Borg Bjergsø of @mikkellerbeer came to @bridgeroadbrewers to brew a collab beer. The combination of brilliant, deep, and complex use of malts and the use of freshly harvested hops makes for a perfect combination.
