The Glendronach Original Aged 12 Years

I’ve got no witticisms, rambling historical anecdotes, or pseudo-insights today. Only the observation of it’s damn cold at night now in the Carolinas, and I’m coping the only way I’ve ever known how: by breaking out the single malts.

Like the Hakushu 12 from yesterday, this bottle also almost made it on the late night/afterparty bottles list. Ultimately though I think that this bottle actually might have belonged on my holiday party bottles list — it’s just so friendly and brimming with Christmas flavors. Imagine a fresh baked loaf of gingerbread as interpreted by a wine store, and you’re on the right track. This thing is bursting with plum, raisin, cinnamon, malt, baking spice, and just a touch of sherry barrel funk, but it’s all presented at a diplomatic 86 proof in a non-chill filtered bottling.

So, if you’re looking for something spiritually akin to my recent recommendations for Goliath fireside sippers, but isn’t so recklessly supercharged, might I humbly offer GlenDronach 12 for your consideration as we draw closer to winter. I doubt you’ll be disappointed.
