Teaspooned Balvenie from Sansibar, bottled for Taiwan. Delectable.

Tasting Note

Nose: barley, osmanthus, jackfruit, green mangoes

Palate: persimmon, soursop, calendula, chrysanthemums, honeysuckle, unremarkable texture.

Finish: cotton, dark green herbal liqueur, think Chartreuse, rosewood

We see some traces of the herbal, bitter-sweet yellow floral character from old Balvenie. It was hard not to see this as the bridge between old-school Balvenie like the amazing 1974 Signatory Vintage 15yo and modern bottlings. I drammed this on a trip to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. A solid 91, a bit soft on the palate.
