Whisky Reviews

Ben Nevis 27 Year Old, b.1991, MacArthur's, 54% abv.

This is a single grain. Nevis is one of those that does it all, single malt, single grain, Scotch, Japanese, etc.

Nose: more well defined vanilla, hints of candy, has that vintage dusty aroma set.

Palate: light body, initial palate is a light apple juice but hints of nuts and vanilla, spices, mid palate extends to light vanilla but this light vanilla is everywhere, spices develop quite well, back palate shows apple vanilla but emphasis is on vanilla.

Finish: short, light vanilla.

Simple stuff with mostly a vanilla profile. The accoutrements don't seem to do much other than provide emphasis on how much vanilla there is. Wish it was more intense though or more variety. Surprising for a grain though.
