Tennessee Distilling Group (TDG) To Acquire Irish Terroir Led Waterford Distillery

Irish whiskey producer Waterford Distillery has been acquired by the Tennessee Distilling Group (TDG).
The sale follows a challenging year for the brand, which entered receivership in late 2024. The distillery's insolvency became official in November 2024, when HSBC appointed Mark Degnan and Daryll McKenna of Interpath Advisory as joint receivers.
The receivers have now entered into an agreement to offload Waterford’s core assets including the distillery and its intellectual property to TDG, with any maturing whiskey stock in the process of being sold separately.
The sale is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks, pending the completion of standard regulatory requirements. The official financial terms of the binding agreement have not been formally disclosed.
Mark Reynier founded the distillery in 2015 which was a former Guinness brewery in Waterford. The Irish producer worked with local farms to create single-farm-origin single malt whiskeys. The former CEO of Bruichladdich, Reynier is also behind Grenada’s Renegade Rum Distillery.
Established in 2014 and based in Columbia, Tennessee, TDG operates as a major global hub for contract whiskey production, specializing in a diverse range of spirits including Bourbon, rye, corn, and malt whiskeys. The firm includes under its purview high-profile labels such as Bob Dylan’s Heaven’s Door Spirits and Uncle Nearest.
TDG has three production campuses spanning 150-plus acres with two independent distillery operations, a bottling facility, and storage warehouses totaling more than 800,000 square feet, holding a sum total of several hundred thousand barrels.
