Esteemed distillery Port Ellen has unveiled a 42 Year Old single malt to celebrate its 200th anniversary, also marking the first limited bottling released since drinks giant Diageo re-opened the distillery in March 2024.
Master blender Aimée Morrison describes the Port Ellen 200th Anniversary Edition as embodying the brand's essence, with a flavor profile that blends smoke with underlying berry notes.
Fans can expect hints of caramelised brown sugars, red berries, and red apple skin, culminating in a finish with lingering smoke, black peppercorn, and a touch of baking bramble.
As part of its 200th anniversary celebrations, the producer will also be unveiling a new installation by American-Nigerian artist Ini Archibong at its distillery.
The Port Ellen distillery has been relatively 'silent' since 1983. Following a 40-year hiatus, it finallt reopened last year after a £185 million (US$235m) restoration by Diageo.

Starting from October, 150 bottles will be up for grabs, each priced at £7,500 (US$10,000) each.
