Nagahama Second Batch Single Malt Is Here

The very romantic Japanese craft distillery Nagahama is ready to put out its Second Batch Single Malt Japanese Whisky.

The First Batch which was released in late 2022 was a huge milestone for the distillery as it released its first flagship single malt whisky - all of which was part of the highly popular beer brewery's 20th anniversary project to get into whiskymaking.

"The flavor of the rich and mellow Nagahama sherry barrel whiskey, which is the key malt, mixes with other whiskies to achieve an exquisite balance that is elegant yet somewhat melancholic. Please enjoy the taste to your heart's content."

Official Tasting Note

Color

Deep and beautiful mahogany.

Aroma

Fruity aromas of toasted oranges, blueberries, cassis and slightly sour plums. A nutty accent reminiscent of walnuts. A gentle smoky flavor spreads comfortably like an extinguishing bonfire.

Taste

Mild mouthfeel. A dry, spicy and multi-layered taste reminiscent of raisin sandwiches, berries, plums and plums. The middle has just the right amount of toasted aroma, followed by a moderately sweet and smoky aftertaste.

The Second Batch is a blend of 4 styles of Nagahama's whiskies which were aged across Oloroso Sherry barrel whiskies distilled in 2019, Koval whisky barrels, Islay quarter barrels and Bourbon quarter barrels.

It is bottled at 50% ABV with a total outturn of 13,000 bottles, priced at 10,000 Yen (or US$73.40) for a 500ml bottle.
