Maestro Dobel Tequila Launches New Tahona-Crushed Blanco Tequila

Maestro Dobel returns to the roots of Tequila making with its new expression: The Dobel Tahona Tequila Blanco.

The new expression is made solely from organic Blue Weber agave that's been crushed by a tahoma wheel, which is made of a large volcanic stone that was traditionally drawn by donkeys in a circle pit to crush cooked agave hearts and extract their sugary juices for fermentation.

The usage of tahomas, as opposed to the roller mill typically favoured by Dobel Tequila, is said to lend the new expression a natural sweetness and complex character. Organic agave juices and fibers are slowly co-fermented for six to seven days in open-air, wood-lined vats, relying on wild ambient yeast.

This is followed by a double distillation in small copper pot stills, resulting in a spirit the brand says has notes of cooked agave, white pepper, lemongrass, and eucalyptus. It is recommended best enjoyed neat or in a classic cocktail.
