It's always a surprise where Macallan takes us next for their highly collected Distil Your World series, which is an ongoing collaboration with one of the world's most highly lauded restaurants, Girona, Spain's El Celler de Can Roca, which is run by the illustrious Roca brothers.

We're now four editions into the Macallan Distil Your World collection, with previous countries and cities featured being London, New York and Mexico.

For each edition of the series, a selected Macallan whiskymaker heads to the city or country featured, along with one of the Roca brothers, where they then pick up inspiration for said edition!

And so we're here in Hong Kong! The land of hustle and bustle, dim sum and great nightlife!

And so headed to Hong Kong, we have Macallan whiskymaker Euan Kennedy - and because it is Macallan - he has selected what else other than a combination of European and American oak casks for this Macallan Distil Your World Hong Kong, that's been bottled at 46.8% ABV.

"Inspired by the vibrant city of Hong Kong, this unique single malt was created by The Macallan's Lead Whisky Maker Euan Kennedy, in collaboration with the Roca brothers, owners of the legendary El Celler de Can Roca restaurant. It is a bold whisky made through the lens of a shared experience in Hong Kong."

Official Tasting Notes 

Nose: Rich, resinous and sweet. Aromas of decadent ginger and spices, balanced by vibrant tropical characteristics like pomelo and mango. Subtle suggestions of Hong Kong style egg tart, fragrant honey, and incredible antique oak.

Taste: Viscous and mouthcoating at first, bright tropical sweetness is followed by beautiful ginger and rounded spices providing great structure. Gentle waves of aged oak, grapefruit and an umami-like depth.

Finish: Vibrant antique oak continues to shine.
