Laphroaig's Giving Second Chances To Mortgage Your House For Second 36 Year Old For New Archive Collection
If you missed out on Laphroaig's 36 Year Old "Peat" expression debut for the Islay distillery's new Wall Collection, well, here's your second chance - Laphroaig's new Archive Collection 36 Year Old.
The new Archive Collection pays tribute to the distillery's whisky makers with this 1985 vintage expression. The whisky has been aged in American ex-Bourbon casks before being finished in a second-fill Oloroso Sherry hogshead, and then finally being bottled at a dangerous 40.2% ABV.
The expression is said to carry notes of "tropical tones that play with dark toffee and vanilla. It is also said to carry Laphroaig’s signature peat, smoke and salt, with a ‘surprising fruitiness in the glass’.
The whisky comes in a hand-blown bottle that draws inspiration from the sea glass found along the beaches of Islay.
With only 400 bottles made available, the new Laphroaig Archive Collection 36 Year Old will be retailed for an RRP of £3,750 or US$4,663.
