Kanosuke Single Malt Goes Peated

Kanosuke is releasing a special limited edition Peated version of its flagship Kanosuke Single Malt, adding to what it describes as its already "elegant and refined taste nurtured by the sea breeze of Fukiagehama, Kagoshima".

Kanosuke tells us that the new Peated edition will be juicy and just moderately peaty, retaining the rich, fruity and mellow taste of the classic Kanosuke Single Malt, now with a pleasant balance of a soft, smoky flavour that was achieved through a great deal of experimentation. "The sweet and sour taste of blackcurrant spreads with fresh aromas of herbs and citrus, and the juicy sweetness of pear. The umami of bacon derived from the peat and the subtle saltiness are layered on top of it, creating a rich and deep taste."

Official Tasting Notes

Colour: Light tortoiseshell

Aroma: Cassis, caramel, honey butter, baguette, gentle bonito broth

Taste: Candied quince, pear, kumquat compote, smoked bacon, salted candy, soybean flour

Finish: The sourness of quince and subtle citrus bitterness will tempt you to have another drink

The new Kanosuke Single Malt Peated will be bottled at 48% ABV, and be priced at 10,450 Yen (US$70.75), and will be made available from Thursday, 22nd May 2025.
