French spirit brand Renais, founded by siblings Alex and Emma Watson, has debuted its first ever vodka.
Co-founded in 2023 by siblings Alex and Emma Watson, Renais initially gained distinction for its upcycled, winemaking-inspired approach to spirits. The brand's flagship gin is distilled using upcycled grape pomace harvested from the Watson family’s domain in Chablis, France.
Similar to their gin's production philosophy, Renais Vodka is sustainably distilled from upcycled French wine grapes. The spirit is subsequently infused with Kimmeridgian limestone, which is said to add a mineral character and subtle salinity to the palate of the spirit.
With a profile described as silky, elegant, and subtly mineral. It comes recommended in a signature Kimmeridgian Martini, which is a savoury take on a Vodka Martini.
It can be made with 60ml Renais Vodka, 10ml Noilly Prat Dry Vermouth, 7.5ml brine from a jar of French cornichons, and 5ml of dry Chablis.
Following its launch, Renais expanded its UK footprint through a nationwide retail partnership with Majestic Wine, securing listings for its flagship gin across 216 store locations throughout the UK and Jersey. The brand marks its third anniversary this year.
Bottled at 40% ABV with an MSRP of £27 (US$36), Renais Vodka will be available in the UK from Oct 1, exclusively at Majestic for an initial three-month period and on the brand’s website.
