Foursquare Rum Marks Its Return With New Mythical Cities Series, Here's Mark I Lyonesse

A mythical city of Arthurian legend and Cornish folklore. It is said to have existed off the coast of Cornwall, England from Land's End to the Isles of Scilly. According to the legend, a storm followed by a huge wave submerged the land in a single night.

We've always known that the beloved Bajan rum maestro Richard Seale is a man who is never content, and can be said to always be in the pursuit of more by way of excellence - we've seen this in his meticulous rums, and also in his unending persistence in teaching his fans new literature. With his long-running Exceptional Cask Selection (ECS) series having finally come to an end after a phenomenal 18 year and 31-release run, during which we learnt of more new vocabulary words than we ever got out of school, it seems that Seale is already prepped and rearing to go with his new lesson plan - the new Foursquare Mythical Cities series!

In this new series, it seems that Foursquare will be regaling us with the tales of the many mythical cities of the world, the first of which - that is Mark I - featuring the city of Lyonesse.

Lyonesse is a legendary lost land borne of British folklore, and in particular is set in an Arthurian world wherein the city was the birthplace of the knight Tristan and was to be the site of King Arthur's final battle against Mordred - perchance Seale means to tell us something here. Regardless, as the story goes, Lyonesse was a rich and fertile land that was home to some 140 churches and sported flourishing villages and even a great and mighty cathedral. Yet, no matter its grandiose, it was said that Lyonesse would disappear overnight, drowned beneath the waves of a sudden and violent flood and a powerful storm. It was only thanks to the fortune of one Trevelyan, who had survived by quickly riding his white horse to high ground that we even know of its existence! It is thus said that even today, sailors and fishermen can still hear the muffled ringing of the church bells from underwater on calm and foggy days.

And so back to the rum itself, Foursquare's Mythical Cities Series Mark I Lyonesse is a 16 Year Old Single Blended Rum that's been aged in ex-Bourbon and ex-Port, that is set to be bottled at 58% ABV.

More details to come! Better brush up on our myths and legends now!
