Former Clase Azul Board Member Charles Durazo Launches US’ 'First' Luxury Blended Tequila Blended Blue

Clase Azul alumni Charles Durazo, former board member, and Alberto Orozco, former VP of manufacturing, have partnered to launch Blended Blue Tequila, described as the first  luxury agave spirit brand in the US to build a portfolio exclusively around Tequila blends.

According to the brand, Blended Blue honours the craftsmanship behind blending Tequila, paying homage to the families in Mexico that have blended Tequila for 75 years.

The inaugural release 'Maravilla', is a blend of 13 month old añejo, and reposado matured for two months in oak. It is said to have notes of black tea, chocolate, agave, leather, pineapple, vanilla and spice on the palate.

The brand raised US$315,000 through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), also known as a microfund, in partnership with Allied Venture Partners.

Durazo’s prominence in the Tequila sector dates back to 2003, when he co-founded Tequilas Premium - the exclusive U.S. importer for Clase Azul. Over a 14-year tenure with the brand, he played a pivotal role in its growth, ultimately serving as a member of its board.

On the other hand, Orozco spent 2006 to 2018 at Patrón Spirits Company before its acquisition by Bacardi. He then brought his production expertise to Clase Azul México, serving there until 2023.

Retailing at US$135 per 750ml bottle, Blended Blue Tequila Maravilla debuted its initial 400-case shipment on 1 June 2026, launching primarily across California markets including Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Sacramento.
