Campari Group has unveiled an extra añejo to the Espolòn Tequila range in the US.
This expression underwent a double-cask ageing process, with two-and-a-half years in American oak followed by a six-month finish in French Chardonnay casks.
The Chardonnay casks are said to bring a layer of complexity to the Tequila’s profile, which balances caramel and vanilla notes with toasted oak and sweet spice.
Strikingly housed in a matte-black bottle with neon green lettering, the packaging features artwork that pays homage to Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada, the creative muse behind Espolòn’s signature aesthetic.
The art depicts a classical serenata a Mexican romantic gesture that involves serenading someone beneath their window as a declaration of love. The brand has said the song is ‘meant to be heard, not whispered’.
Espolòn Extra Añejo is available nationwide in the US at an MSRP of US$69.99, a price the brand described the price point as one of the ‘most accessible’ in the ultra-premium tier.
