Diageo To Offer Rare Casks Of Oldest Lagavulin, Clynelish, Caol Ila, Talisker & More To Private Clients Via Cask Of Distinction The Twelve Program
Diageo has unveiled its latest annual Casks of Distinction offering to private clients, headlined by The Twelve, an exceptional 1991 Lagavulin single malt.
Currently maturing at the Royal Lochnagar Distillery in the Scottish Highlands, Lagavulin 1991 Cask #1069 serves as the crowning centerpiece of the drinks giant's prestigious programme unveiled earlier this month at Royal Lochnagar Distillery.
The expression, named after it being the collection's "twelfth cask", also marks a historic milestone for the house as the oldest single-cask Lagavulin ever made available for private acquisition.
The Lagavulin Cask #1069 was filled into a combination of refill European and American oak in 1991 and transferred to a Pedro Ximénez seasoned hogshead in 2007.
Diageo has described the expression as ‘a whisky of remarkable richness’ with a ‘powerful peated character’ and notes of dried fruit, liquorice and charred oak.
Established in 2023, Diageo’s Casks of Distinction program grants private clients exclusive access to acquire full, single casks from the company’s most venerated Scotch whisky distilleries.
Owners then collaborate directly with the house’s master whisky makers to guide further maturation and custom bottling, while unlocking a suite of tailored privileges from bespoke distillery visits to access to Diageo’s exclusive private client experiences worldwide.
