Bulleit Bourbon Debuts Its First Ever Bottled-In-Bond Bourbon

Bulleit Bourbon has just dropped a new Bottled-In-Bond bourbon, marking the first time its launched a whiskey produced entirely at the brand's Kentucky distillery.

This expression was distilled in the Spring of 2017 at Bulleit’s Shelbyville, Kentucky facility, aged in federally bonded warehouses and distilled during one distilling season. This marks a departure from the brand's usual practice of sourcing whiskey from other distilleries since its founding in 1987.

The Bulleit Distilling Co. in Shelbyville, Kentucky, which opened in 2017, the same year that this new Bottled In Bond expression was distilled.

For the uninitiated, USA legislation stipulates that whiskeys labelled as Bottled In Bond must fulfil the following criteria: The whiskey must be bottled at 100 proof; be at least four years old; be distilled in only one distillery during one distilling season; and be matured in federally bonded warehouses.

Commenting on the historic new expression, Diageo's lead whiskey blender Delicia James said:

“Introducing our first bottled-in-bond bourbon, made entirely at the Bulleit Distilling Company is a proud achievement for our team. With our signature high-rye mash bill and seven years of aging under bottled-in-bond standards, this bourbon delivers a richness and complexity we’re excited to share. It’s a whiskey that truly showcases the best of what we do here in Shelbyville—bold, balanced, and crafted with care.”

According to the brand, fans can expect the new expression to contain a "melange of spices" and toasted oak on the nose, with full notes of maple and nutmeg on the palate. The finish is apparently a smooth one, with "drizzles of butterscotch".

The new 750ml offering comes in at 100 proof (50% ABV) and will be available throughout the United States and has a suggested retail price of $54.99.
