Bowmore Ushers In Two New Core Ranges Sherry Oak And Appellations

Bowmore lovers rejoice! The distillery has released two brand new collections, totaling four whiskies a set in the Bowmore Sherry Oak Collection as well as the Bowmore Appellations Collection.

First off, the new Bowmore Sherry Oak Collection have been aged in European oak Sherry casks, having 43% ABV across the board.

The Sherry Oak collection includes:

The 12-Year-Old: Said to have a sweet spice and nuttiness with smoky notes.

The 15-Year-Old: Reportedly matured in first-fill oloroso Sherry casks, the casks are said to add sweetness to the brand’s signature style.

The 18-Year-Old: This offering was first finished first in oloroso casks, followed by a second maturation in Pedro Ximénez (PX) casks. The distillery has said it has an inherent sweetness with notes of fresh fruit and smoke.

The 21-Year-Old: Similar to the 18-year old, little is know about this expression except that it is also also finished in both oloroso Sherry and PX casks. It is said to have a ‘multi-layered character’.

The Sherry Oak Collection will be available in certain retailers in key cities including London, Paris, Toronto and Munich from September.

While Bowmore fans across the globe might need to wait a bit for the worldwide release of the Sherry Oak Collection, they can certainly start tasting with the new Bowmore Appellations range.

Designed to be a travel retail exclusive, the range aims to highlight global wine-producing regions such as Burgundy, Bordeaux and the Douro Valley.

This Bowmore Appellations collection includes:

Bowmore 14-Year-Old: Matured in American oak ex-Bourbon casks, the whisky is then finished in ex-Bordeaux barrels. The process is said to create a whisky with notes of berries, orchard fruit as well as smoke.

Bowmore 16-Year-Old: This offering is a single malt matured in both ex-Bourbon and European oak Sherry casks, before finally being finished in ruby Port casks hailing from the Douro Valley. It is reportedly a rich and complex whisky, with a presence of 'mature, autumnal ripeness' as well as smoke.

Bowmore 19-Year-Old: This whisky is finished in Pinot Noir casks from Burgundy. It is said to possess a subtle smokiness with complex caramel notes.

Bowmore 22-year-old: Little is known about this offering, except it is the oldest single malt in the collection. Finished in Sauternes casks, it has a price point of US$500.

Bowmore Appellations will be available in travel retail hubs such as Changi and Heathrow from October.

Beyond the launch of these two exciting new core ranges, also comes a monumental milestone in Bowmore's history with the redesign of its bottles. The redesign is said to reflect the brand’s intention to elevate and premiumise itself’.

In order to express the 'exceptionally expressive and layered nature of Bowmore's character', the new design has morphic linework cast upon a background of black. Black itself remains the brand’s legacy color, paying homage to the iconic Black Bowmore, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.

Starting 1 November, travellers passing through Singapore Changi Airport’s Terminal 1 can get a first glimpse of Bowmore’s latest collection. Singapore Changi Airport would be part of Asia’s first launch, and will debut the Bowmore Appellations travel retail exclusive collection, featuring four whiskies aged 14, 16, 19, and 22 years in a multi-sensorial Changi 1st pop-up.
