Set to open on Islay in the autumn of 2025, the new Ardbeg House hotel is ready to be unveiled, and the Glenmorangie Company is taking advanced bookings for those who want to show up first.
The hotel grounds were purchased by Ardbeg in 2022, and was previously called the Islay Hotel and operated until the summer of 2024. It is expected to remain closed until May 2025 as interior designers from Russell Sage Studio work their magic.
The Ardbeg house is expected to be a beacon of world-class whisky and hospitality. It pays homage to both the island and the rich legacy of the Ardbeg Distillery. The hotel grounds are just a short distance from the renowned Ardbeg distillery and offers not just accommodation and dining, but of course an impressive selection of spirits.

On the grounds, notable features include a courtyard bar, ground-floor restaurant, and twelve exquisitely designed bedrooms, each said to offer a unique glimpse into both the history of Islay and the Ardbeg Distillery. Guests can also savor two exclusive whiskies: one exclusively available at the hotel, while the other can be had at both at the hotel and the Ardbeg Distillery visitor center.
This isn't the distillery's first innovation on Islay, either. It recently built a new still house on the distillery grounds in an effort to enhance visitor experience. Talks are also ongoing and it appears in the way to build a new community hub in Port Ellen, as well as continue contributions to local infrastructure such as roads and pathways.
Last year, Milroy's Whisky Travel Index listed Ardbeg as having Scotland’s best distillery tour and tasting experience.
Bookings are now available on the distillery's website.
