Bardstown Unveils Pineapple Rum Cask Finished Victoria Pineapple Barrel Finished Whiskey

Lofted Spirits’ Bardstown Bourbon Company has unveiled the Victoria Pineapple Barrel Finished Whiskey, a Kentucky-exclusive expression, finished in pineapple rum casks sourced from the Caribbean.

It is the first release from Bardstown Bourbon’s Finishing Series, intended to be an evolution from the brand’s popular limited edition collaborations.

Named after a sweet, aromatic pineapple variety historically tied to Barbadian rum, the first release combines 10-to-11-year-old Bourbon and 11-year-old rye finished in rum barrels with oak staves and pineapple.

The  whiskey blend was matured for 27 months before fresh pineapple was added to the barrels, said to mirror the original rum’s creation process which reveals the developing tropical notes in the whiskey.

The expression should offer nose notes of bold tropical fruit, rye, spice, and allspice. On the palate, it is said to display notes of pineapple, cherry, toasted oak, vanilla crème, and toffee.

Created by Louisville artist Margaret Archambault, the label artwork will debut alongside this summer's national Discovery and Finishing releases.

Bottled at 53% ABV, the expression is limited to less than 350 nine-litre cases and has an MSRP of US$139.99 for a 750ml bottle. It will be available from 24 July exclusively in Kentucky, including the Bardstown Bourbon Co distillery and Louisville Tasting Room.
