Proximo Spirits owned 1800 Tequila has hopped on the high-proof Tequila train with the launch of two 1800 High Proof expressions.

Now available in both Blanco and Reposado varieties, each expression comes in 375ml formats at 45% ABV. The brand has described the Blanco as a blend of “special selection white tequilas,” while the Reposado is aged for an undisclosed period in a mix of new American and French Oak. 

Standard Tequila expressions more often come in at 40% ABV or below, although by official Mexican regulations (NOM), tequila can range anywhere from 35% to 55% ABV (70 to 110 proof). 

For a long time, however, as a result of US tax policies, Tequila was almost never bottled above 40% ABV. The trend for higher proof Tequila has nevertheless found great resonance with Tequila fans, and in particular the additive-free community, dramatically reviving the market's interest in higher-proof spirits.

The two new expressions are set to go for USD$18.99 and USD$19.99 for the Blanco and Reposado, respectively.
