Sugus Red | Samata Brewing
Fruited Sour | ABV 4.0%
Pours a candy red hue, same thick-thin situation as the Pantone - Dusty Orange sour. Aromas of pulpy raspberries, this reminds me of Fox's Crystal Clear Candy that you can get at the airport's candy dishes (when I was younger, I think they give mints now instead).
Just the simple joy of picking the colours, twisting and unwrapping these gems and enjoying the refreshing fruity flavour - this is what it is. This is the liquid version of the dark purple and blush pink ones, really sweet but extremely tart at the same time, best of both realms in the sour universe.
I get juicy watermelon, pulpy blackberries and crunchy blueberries too, unlike the peach and passion fruit listed on the can. Again, a sharing beer, it's too sweet for my liking, and I'd prefer a smaller can of this instead of 500ml of sugar 🙂↔️
This is named (and probably also inspired) by the Thai candy named Sugus, which is the version of hi-chew and I guess..laffy taffy.
My father's unfiltered review:
"This is diabetes. Help me drink everything else. End of story. This beer is going to kill me."
